HIGHLIGHTS

SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD It was fantastic today to see so many students and staff wearing red as part of the national anti-racism day run by the Show Racism The Red Card charity.  It is hugely important that the message is heard very clearly that racism of any kind has no place at Charters or in wider society.

SENIOR MATHS CHALLENGE RESULTS Forty-nine of our A-Level Maths students took part in the Senior Maths Challenge in September with thirty-five gaining a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.   Five of the competitors have qualified for the next round which will take place on 15 November.  To gain a certificate is a remarkable achievement and to get through to the next round is fantastic, so well done to Ben, Lauren, Evan, Shriya and Sam who will be representing the school at the Andrew Jobbing Senior Kangaroo competition.

SPANISH VISIT At the end of last week, our ‘A’ Level Spanish students visited the local care home who were running a Spanish Day.  They spent their time talking to the residents in Spanish and about their experiences in Spain.   They even took some Spanish Omelette and other Spanish dishes they had cooked in school.  A wonderful example of our students supporting the local community and developing their own confidence as well.  Thank you to the  Spanish department and to Arun, James, Sara, Mirella, Maria, Heidi and Matilde.

CHAMBER CONCERT This week saw the first School Chamber Concert of the year, it was wonderful to see and hear the students play, some performing in front of an audience for the first time.  Well done to all who took part.

SCHOOL COUNCIL The School Council met last week and had some very interesting discussions around important aspects of school life; communication, the way individuals talk to each other and the celebration of diversity.  We look forward to developing proposals with the group to deliver on their ideas.

I would like to wish you all a restful half-term break.
