PHA Trip to Oxford University

3rd Mar 2022

Sixth Form students enjoyed a visit to Oxford University recently as part of our school's Potential High Achievers initiative. This forms part of the programme to prepare our current Sixth Form students for their Oxbridge applications.

Current Year 12 student Nathalie said, "Arriving on a rainy, overcast Wednesday morning I was not expecting the wonderful visit we enjoyed. The drizzle did not take away from the spectacular buildings in Brasenose college; every room we went into was filled with history. We also got to see typical student accommodation and eat lunch in the cafeteria and for a few hours I felt part of the University. Clear love and passion for their uni experience was demonstrated in the way that ex-Charters' students, now Oxford undergraduates, talked about it and I got a real sense of what it was like to go there. It was great to have the opportunity to discuss our subject choices with current students and hear about the application process. We then walked around the main city, which was lined with independent shops, the streets bustling with life, making the whole area seem lively and friendly. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and a good reminder of what we are working towards."

Many thanks to Ms Anderson for organising.
