This week Year 8 & 9 students who are part of the Rising Futures programme visited ZS London, a global management consultant company specialising in pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

Upon arrival the students were given a short introduction into what skills are involved in becoming a healthcare consultant and engaged in a short quiz to test their healthcare knowledge.

Students were then were split into working groups to prepare for a Dragon’s Den style teamwork activity. Initially, students were nervous, however once the task was explained and the students found out they would be devising how to brand and sell a pair of trainers they quickly became less worried!

Each group worked with a ZS consultant to ‘think tank’ their ideas. It was great to see students volunteering their opinions, communicating well with others in their team and practising their presentations before presenting to a panel of ZS consultants and Yes Futures volunteers.

During lunch, students had the opportunity to hear from ZS staff members, including a Partner at the firm, about their route into their current career and ask any questions.

After lunch each group had to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges to find out who would come away with a (sadly imaginary) £1 million investment. Two of the three groups were successful in their pitches for the £1million investment which was wonderful.

The students did themselves and our school proud!
