On Thursday 3 March, Charters celebrated World Book Day by launching a Readathon for the students, while many of the teachers dressed up as famous book characters. It was fantastic to have a day to celebrate reading and to get students and teachers alike interested in books. During the day, Year 7s competed to see who could work out who all the teachers were dressed up as and Years 8-11 tutor groups battled it out in the House World Book Day quiz which was completed in tutor time. Students in Years 7-9 now have three weeks to read as many books as they can and to get as many sponsors as they can!
All proceeds go to Readathon's charities CLIC Sargent and the Roald Dahl Foundation.
Shown below are Mrs Campbell as The Wife of Bath from The Canterbury Tales, Mr Rodgers as Alex from Clockwork Orange, Miss Ford as Miss Havisham from Great Expectations, Mrs Mathews as Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter and Mrs Cross-Fancy as Alice in Wonderland along with pupils Kitty Boxall, Milly Routledge, Ayla Winter-White, Harry Breedon and Henry Roberts.
