The Wind in the Willows, a trip report by Jaime Greenyer Year 7

In December, some of Charters Year 7 pupils represented the school when we were invited to see ‘Wind in the Willows’ at Basingstoke theatre. The play was simple, but was very effective. The scenery and the props had been well thought out and looked fantastic, such as the caravan and the car. The plot of the story is Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger who are best friends and they have lots of adventures together. Toad has short obsessions; one minute he loves caravans and the next thing he loves motor cars. One day his obsessions go too far and he steals a car and is put in prison. The evil stoats and weasels take over Toad Hall and it’s Ratty’s, Mole’s and Badger’s job to come up with a plan. On the other hand Toad escapes from prison and pretends to be a washer woman. He is just in time to help his friends. I thoroughly enjoyed the play and I hope in the future we will be fortunate to go and see another superb play.
