ICT Support Services

This department delivers a prompt and effective ICT support service to all users of the school network.

In addition to providing first level support, the department maintains the school's computer network and all associated computer equipment.

ICT Facilities

The school currently has an ICT network consisting of eight Windows 2003 servers and more than one thousand workstations and laptops running the Windows XP operating system. All computers have access to the Internet, to the latest Microsoft Office 2007 applications and to many other subject-related software titles.

Every classroom has a fixed projector and sound and more than half of those rooms also have an Interactive Whiteboard.

The school uses a Virtual Learning Environment, FirstClass, allowing students and staff to transfer documents to and from school, to send and receive emails and to gain access to a wide range of online learning resources. FirstClass is secure and can be accessed from any computer in the world that has an Internet connection.

We continue to look at how we may best move technology forward at Charters and are constantly researching new technologies that will ensure the learning experience is both effective and enjoyable.
