What is Tennis Teaching, Coaching and Instruction NVQ about?
This course is designed to provide the students with the necessary certificates and practical experience to coach tennis within the LTA development framework.
How is this course structured?
A two year course which the student attends 14 hours per week. This is split into 4 hours theory and 10 hours practical.
Is this course for me?
An interest in tennis or coaching is required. A high playing standard is not a pre-requisite to enrol for this course, more a love of the game!
What else do I need to know?
This course is timetabled to allow students to study up to 3 A levels or a BTEC in Sport while improving your playing standard, coaching ability and tennis knowledge. This course would cost up to £4500 over two years if paid by the individual.
What do other students say?
“ I think the course is really well put together . There is a good balance of theory and practical. It not only helps you to develop sound coaching but also improves you as a player. There is good support from the staff”
“I recently visited Newport University, looking into a Sports Coaching and Development course. The Head of the Faculty said that as I had an NVQ in Teaching, Coaching and Instructing in Tennis it would be a huge advantage over other potential candidates.”
Where could it lead?
- Coaching opportunities with LTA affiliated clubs.
- Full time and part time paid employment at tennis centres.
- Coaching in schools and leisure centres.
- Restringing for clubs and sport retailers.
- When combined with A levels or a BTEC Sport course this would enhance entry to university on sport related courses.
