What is BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport about?
A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a practical, work-related course, this is the equivalent to four GCSEs at grade A-C. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces learners to particular areas of employment and provides a good basis to go onto more advanced work-related qualifications.
Is this course for me?
The course is highly interactive with students taking on considerable responsibility for their own learning. You will need to research and analyse topics to achieve your potential in this area.
What else do I need to know?
One of the units in the BTEC Level 2 Diploma will follow a work experience placement and pupils will be required to spend one week off site to do this placement.
Finally the BTEC is a coursework only subject, there are no exams involved. This does, however, mean that you will need to spend a significant amount of time completing work to a high standard.
What do other students say?
“I’m finding the BTEC course challenging because I’m learning many new things.”
“The BTEC course is good, very interesting and fun!”
Where could it lead?
With further training or study, learners may progress into a sport related career. A BTEC Level 2 Diploma gives a good preparation for employment and more advanced courses such as the BTEC National Award, Certificate or Diploma in sport.
