A level Results
At ‘A’ Level there was an overall pass rate of 98%, with 79% gaining A*-C grades. The figures were similar to 2010, although the overall academic profile of this year group was lower than last year’s. This has meant that our value added performance (the academic progress students have made from Year 11 to Year 13) has improved this year. More importantly Year 13 students, in the main, were able to secure the university places or employment placements they required. For a detailed breakdown of our results please click here.
Some students need additional help at times. All students have a tutor whom they see at least twice a week with whom they can raise concerns. Support sessions in departments are advertised in the Common Room, and the Supervisors in the Common Room and the silent study area; The Durning Room, are skilled at giving advice if subject staff are not available.
We run compulsory Study Skills sessions at the beginning of Year 12, we regularly review progress and we let parents or carers know how students are progressing. The Heads of Year step in if necessary. We are proud of our close relationship with parents whom we inform if issues arise.
Teachers are able to give detailed advice on improving attainment in each subject.
