Supporting Learning: Remote Access to Information
The School uses three separate facilities to help parents, students and staff gain remote access to information via the internet.
The School Website www.chartersschool.org.uk
Our website has received many favourable comments and is regulary updated. You may already have used it to view the school prospectus or to check our Ofsted report. Once you become a Charters' parent you will find its many features helpful. For example, our interactive calendar is a handy reference point, copy letters to whole year groups can be found here, emergency school closure information, along with details of our many school clubs to mention just a few elements of the site. Have a look and tell us what you would find helpful.
FirstClass
FirstClass is used as a communications and learning resource platform. Access is restricted to students, staff and members of the Parent Council and Governors. This secure facility incorporates email, chat and discussion spaces, teachers ‘pick up’ and ‘drop off’ areas for students’ work and a vast collection of tens of thousands of learning resources covering every subject in every year which are extensively used in lessons and for home learning. It can be accessed via the web directly but functionality is much improved by installing a client program available to download from the school website.
This allows access to student information in real-time. Parents and pupils can then view information relating to:
- Annual Pupil Profile Report
- Attendance registers and attendance summaries
- Up to date assessments of students’ progress
- Timetable and class information
- Rewards and achievements
- Behavioural incidents
- Contact details held by the school
Parents who have more than one child at school can access all relevant information from the same log-in screen. Secure passwords are issued to all new parents and students.
