Lunchtime

Charters Dining Hall

The Dining Hall at Charters is run for us by Caterlink Ltd whose heathly eating policy not only meets but exceeds Government guidelines and has won them the prestigious Healthy Eating Award.  The hall operates on a cashless basis with all transactions being made through the SmartCard system: a prepaid card where you can stipulate how much your child spends each day.  Pupils who arrive early can buy breakfast; lunch is served during first break and afternoon snacks are available at second break.

SmartCards

From Autumn 2012, SmartCards will be issued to all new pupils when they join the school.  They will remain available upon application to any existing pupil who does not already have a SmartCard..  Parents maintain a balance on the card through ParentPay or by cheque made payable to 'Caterlink Ltd' which may be credited to the card during Breakfast Club ie 8.00 - 8.30am and during second break ie 1.30 - 2pm in the dining hall.  Please ensure that  you write your child's name and tutor group on the back of the cheque. The SmartCard system also allows you to stipulate a maximum daily spending allowance. If you would like to increase this limit at any time please use the form below.

Lost or damaged SmartCards can be replaced at a cost of £3.50 payable to Caterlink Ltd.  Details of the balance from the lost card are kept on our system and will be transferred to the new card.  If a SmartCard is lost, the student should inform Caterlink who will place a stop on the lost card and issue a replacement.  Each card has its own serial number and the student's name. There is a signature panel on each card which we advise is used.

A low balance prompt is available on the system which will inform the operator to advise the student that their balance is under £3 and needs topping up.  A printout can be produced from any terminal of the remaining balance on the card.  Each time a card is topped up, a statement showing the old balance and the updated balance can be printed.

A maximum daily spend can be set at 50p intervals from  £2.50 - £5.00 to help budget lunch expenditure.  For our new intake of Year 7 pupils this will be preset at £3.50 daily.  If you would like to increase this limit at any time please use the form below.
