We are enormously grateful to ladies of The Ascot Inner Wheel and in particular, President Mrs Chris Valentine and Secretary Mrs Hilary Mear who recently visited the School to present their charity’s generous donation to the Charters School Young Apprentice South Africa Project.
Two of our Young Apprentices, Declan Bourke and Joe Matchan, spoke to the Inner Wheel ladies whilst attending the Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre. The Inner Wheel was so impressed with the students when they learned that the Young Apprentices were fundraising for the Holy Family Combined School in South Africa, that they decided that the venture should benefit from money they had raised leading up to Christmas.
Mrs Christine Valentine, President of the Inner Wheel Ascot, said, "We were looking for a local project or charity to channel the Christmas donations from Club Members this year when I heard about the trip to South Africa from Declan and Joe at the Sunninghill Victorian Fayre. The Inner Wheel ladies agreed unanimously that we should support this splendid venture, and one of our members was so inspired by the project that she added £500 to the total collected. We wish the students all the best for their exciting journey and look forward to hearing their stories afterwards."
