House Singing Festival

House Singing Festival

The House Singing Festival took place this week, with the competition split into two sections: the Junior competition (Years 7 - 9) and the Senior competition (Years 10 - 13). Louise McGahon, the Head of Voice for Berkshire Maestros, commented on what a strong competition it was. The overall winner, and holder of the Charters Cup for Singing was Hannah McCarthy (13SR).

In the Junior Festival the winner in Classical Song was Elizabeth Atkinson (9S), Folk Song was won by Eleanor Brian (8C) and Musical Theatre first place was awarded to Annie Imrie-Cook (9H). In the Senior Festival, Classical Song was won by Samantha Quillish (11H), Folk Song first prize was awarded to Phoebe Wright (12MM) and the top position in Musical Theatre was awarded to Alex Kirkham (13BF). Sam Young (13BF) was named ‘Male Singer of the Year’.

For the students to stand up and sing in front of their peers as well as an audience as part of a competition takes a great deal of courage and they all performed magnificently. Thank you to Mr Stephenson for organising the event, to Berkshire Maestros and Miss Sherry for their expertise in judging a very close competition.
