One of the highlights of studying ‘A’ level French at Charters is the opportunity to complete a week’s work experience in Lille.  Students work for around six hours a day in varying industries including broadcasting and hospitality.  One of the first challenges of the trip is finding your way on public transport to your place of work, some proving more difficult than others!  Staff accompanying the trip work hard to make sure students enjoy their stay and experience what Lille has to offer.  This year 34 students from Year 12 travelled to Lille and have given some very positive feedback.

Mike Stokes worked on reception at a Youth Hostel, he said ‘I am very glad I went as I think I gained a lot of confidence and had an opportunity to explore the French culture’.  Ellie Quarrington enjoyed her week in a bowling alley ‘ my colleagues were really nice people and I got many opportunities to practise my French’.  The radio station where Alistair Ship worked invited him to give film reviews and talk about British music, he says ‘I am elated at the fact I spent a week there speaking French, if I could do it all again then I most definitely would’.  Roseanna Cheesman who worked in a restaurant said ‘it was a great trip and I’m glad that I went.’
