Congratulations to all our year 13 students who have worked hard with their teachers to achieve another set of good A level results this year. It is particularly encouraging to see that there has been a slight increase this year in the number of students achieving the top grades A* - B at a time when there is pressure on the examination boards to limit the numbers achieving these grades. The best news for Charters’ students is that these results give the vast majority of them a range of opportunities for their future whether it be to continue their education, take a gap year or start employment.
Overall 50% of entries were graded A*, A or B and 77% achieved A* - C. The average points score per entry is 209. This is a strong performance and is encouraging at a time when the Sixth Form at Charters continues to expand. Congratulations go to students, staff and parents for an excellent performance!
GCSE 2012 results were equally encouraging with a third consecutive year of record breaking results. Of the 247 students sitting GCSEs 96% achieved 5 or more A*-C grades, of whom 75% achieved 5 or more A*-C including English and Maths. In terms of the progress made by each child since joining Charters, compared to the level they were at when they joined us, 85% met or exceeded their target in English and 82% met or exceeded their target in Maths. 39% achieved the English Baccalaureate. These are good results and students, parents and teachers should be proud of the outcome of their hard work. A more detailed analysis has been completed now on the 2011 results which can be viewed by clicking on the link.
The vast majority of our students will be moving on to our Sixth Form to begin their “A” level courses or the wide variety of vocational courses that are available. We look forward to their continuing success.
