Issue of External Examination Results – Summer 2012

Collection of Results

Results can be collected from school on the day they are published.

A2 results are available for collection from the Sixth Form Common Room on Thursday 16 August 2012 between 7am and 9am. AS and Level 3 BTEC can be collected between 9am and 11am. Staff will be in school to help with any concerns from 7am - 3pm on Thursday 16 August.

GCSE and Level 1 and 2 BTEC results are available for collection from the main hall on Thursday 23 August 2012 between 10am and noon for Year 11 and between 11am and noon for Year 10.

FCSE results are available for collection on Thursday 23 August 2012 between 11am and noon.

If you are unable to collect your results in person, you may either hand an envelope, with your name and candidate number written on it and a stamp inside the envelope, into the Exams Office so that your results can be posted to you. Or, write a note giving a named person (such as one of your parents) permission to collect the results envelope on your behalf. The person collecting the results must have proof of identity with them. In the absence of either a note of permission or proof of identity, your results will not be given out.

Results are not allowed to be given out over the telephone.

Questionable Results

If you consider a serious error has been made in awarding you a particular grade there is a strict procedure to follow. Enquiries can be made officially through the school but you must discuss it immediately with your teacher. Most enquiries take several weeks before notification of the outcome is received. If your teacher wishes you to make an enquiry about your results, it must be submitted by 11am 20 September 2012.

However, for A Level results a priority enquiry can be made, this must be submitted by 11am 24 August 2012.

Success Recognised 2011

Charters School is once again very proud of the achievements of its students.

For the second year running there were record results at GCSE Level with 92% of students achieving 5 A*-C grades (our previous best score here was 86%) and 74% gaining 5 A*-C grades, including English and Mathematics, which compares favourably with the national average for this measure of 55%. This is only the second year (2010 being the other) that the school has broken the 70%+ barrier for this measure – a significant achievement!

At ‘A’ Level there was an overall pass rate of 98%, with 79% gaining A*-C grades. The figures were similar to 2010, although the overall academic profile of this year group was lower than last year’s. This has meant that our value added performance (the academic progress students have made from Year 11 to Year 13) has improved this year. More importantly Year 13 students, in the main, were able to secure the university places or employment placements they required; there will, however, be a further report on these outcomes as we receive further information about what the last Year 13 are now doing.

Many congratulations to all the successful students and the parents and staff who supported and cajoled them to these achievements.
