Charters School is delighted to offer a high quality and exciting Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme for students in Years 10-13. The Duke of Edinburgh Awards are nationally recognised and involve a whole host of activities such as helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, and going on an expedition.
DofE awards have been running at the school for over 10 years, and in 2009-2010 over 35 students from Charters were recognised for completing DofE programmes. Starting from September 2010 there will be an exciting new programme running, which is tailored to the needs of our students, and involves working with an external training provider – Wilderness Expertise. There will be qualifications running at both Bronze and Silver Levels, and the school is currently working with other schools in the Borough with a view to offering a joint Gold Award Programme.
