Charters School is proud to be launching its first-ever major fund-raising campaign in order to provide a large indoor Community Sports Facility to be built on the Charters School site. The proposed building, for use by both the school and the local community, will provide much-needed indoor sporting space, covering the size of three tennis courts. It can be used for a variety of indoor sports, as well as community events such as demonstration sporting events, craft fayres, motor exhibitions – in fact, any community event needing a large indoor space.
The history behind this project is that the plans have been drawn, planning permission has been granted, then, unfortunately, a change of government priorities led to the withdrawal of the funding for the project. Charters School feels this is a project far too exciting to be scrapped, so has taken the bold decision to attempt to raise the £2 million needed to allow the project to proceed!
An architect’s model, plans and visuals of the proposed building will be on display in the Reception at school – they really help to provide a clear picture of the scale of the project and just what it will offer our school and the community. We would be delighted to welcome you into school to look at this display at your convenience.
This is a really ambitious project for the school and one which we hope both Charters’ families and the community will feel able to support.
The school will be organising a series of fund-raising events which will be publicised in the coming months and we would like to form a small team of fund-raisers for this purpose. Please let us know if you would be interested in joining this group.
The first major fund-raising campaign is the launch of the “Buy a Brick” scheme to raise money for this project. We hope as many people as possible will sponsor a brick (or bricks!). Each brick costs £50 and the names of donors will be recorded on the building once it is completed. Click here to access a copy of the letter giving more details.
If you have any questions concerning this project, would like to join the fund-raising group mentioned above, or would like to be involved in any other way, please contact Mr Steve Harvey (email: harvs001@rbwm.org / 01344 298722 / 07725 643424). We hope you will feel able to support our efforts to turn these plans into reality and would like to thank you in anticipation for your support!
