As you've chosen to visit this page, you may already be aware that, in real terms, our school is more than half a million pounds worse off than it was three years ago.

Now, more than ever before, we are relying on the support of our generous parents, alumni and the local community to fund a wide range of extracurricular activities, resources and equipment that we cannot provide from school funds. Your support will make a huge difference.

Details of how to give money are below but it's not all about money. if you have time or expertise that you would be willing to share with us, just email or pop into the Main Office and let us know.

Donations can be made in the following ways:

Standing orders: Many parents and alumni choose to make a regular monthly or yearly gift to the school. If you haven’t done it yet, just download and fill in this form and send it into school in an envelope marked For the Attention of the Development Office

An Online Donation: Some of our generous donors prefer to make donations online via JustGiving and we’ll soon be making this even easier for parents by adding a donation facility to ParentPay

Gift Aid: It may seem annoying to fill in yet another form but, for every £1 donated, Charters can claim an additional 25p of tax from HMRC. Where applicable, a donor can even use higher rate tax relief to reclaim a further 20-25% in their tax return. For example, if you give £1000, the value to Charters School is £1,250. If you sign up for Gift Aid and give regularly it can make a real difference so, if you haven't already, please take the time to complete this form and return it marked For the Attention of the Development Office :

  • If you give £10 a month, the value to Charters School is £12.50 or £150 per year
  • If you give £20 a month, the value to Charters School is £25.00 or £300 per year
  • If you give £30 a month (the equivalent of £1 a day), the value to Charters School is a massive £450
  • If you give £100 a month (the equivalent of a coffee a day), the value to Charters School is a caffeine-inspired, colossal £1,500

Cheque: If you prefer, you can write a cheque to support the on-going development of Charters School. Cheques should be made payable to Charters School Association and we can still claim Gift Aid if you complete this gift aid form. You can drop your cheque into the school office or you can post it to: The Development Office, Charters School, Charters Road, Ascot SL5 9QY.

Company ‘matching gift’ schemes: many companies match an employee’s gift. Ask your employer if they can double your donation.

Gifts of Shares: such donations receive income tax relief based on 100% of their market value and entitle the donor to full exemption from Capital gains Tax on any prior gains. For more information, contact us at

Donations in kind: some donors prefer to buy specific gifts for the school. We are enormously grateful for all gifts of this kind but if you’re not sure what to buy we have compiled a wish list (click to download) to give you some ideas.

Legacies: including Charters in your Will makes a significant difference to the future of the school. Your support could express your appreciation of what the school has done for you, your child or your grandchild; you could enhance the school facilities for future generations and perpetuate the name of a loved one. A legacy is a tax efficient method of giving as it is free of inheritance tax under current legislation. And, if 10% of an estate is given to charity, the Inheritance tax rate on the balance is 36% rather than 40%.
