"Making Futures", the Big Give Appeal 2017-18

This year the money raised by the annual Big Give Appeal will be used to purchase Teacher Walls for the new Maths and Science block to enhance the learning of our current and future students.

A Teacher Wall combines modular storage and technology to create a modern, streamlined learning aid. Whiteboards are incorporated into the Teacher Wall. often combining an interactive whiteboard and sliding drywipe boards.

If you are able to support the Big Give Appeal 2017-18 please use the donate button above to link into our Just Giving Campaign or download a Standing Order and Gift Aid form here. Our target is to raise £50,000.

Fund Matching Offer

PRESS RELEASE....PRESS RELEASE... We are delighted to announce that a parent has offered to match all donations up to £5,000!  This is an amazing start to our Big Give 2017-18 campaign.

For every £ donated, this generous offer will double your donation.  Please give as much as you can and help us double the funds raised.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid: It may seem annoying to fill in yet another form but, for every £1 donated, Charters can claim an additional 25p of tax from HMRC. Where applicable, a donor can even use higher rate tax relief to reclaim a further 20-25% in their tax return. For example, if you give £1000, the value to Charters School is £1,250. If you sign up for Gift Aid and give regularly it can make a real difference so, if you haven't already, please take the time to complete this form and return it marked For the Attention of the Development Office :

  • If you give £10 a month, the value to Charters School is £12.50 or £150 per year
  • If you give £20 a month, the value to Charters School is £25.00 or £300 per year
  • If you give £30 a month (the equivalent of £1 a day), the value to Charters School is a massive £450
  • If you give £100 a month (the equivalent of a coffee a day), the value to Charters School is a caffeine-inspired, colossal £1,500

Other ways to donate

Company ‘matching gift’ schemes: many companies match an employee’s gift. Ask your employer if they can double your donation.

Legacies: including Charters in your Will makes a significant difference to the future of the school. Your support could express your appreciation of what the school has done for you, your child or your grandchild; you could enhance the school facilities for future generations and perpetuate the name of a loved one. A legacy is a tax efficient method of giving as it is free of inheritance tax under current legislation. And, if 10% of an estate is given to charity, the Inheritance tax rate on the balance is 36% rather than 40%.

It's not all about the money

Details of how to give money are below but it's not all about money. if you have time or expertise that you would be willing to share with us, just email charters@chartersschool.org.uk or pop in and let us know. Our current volunteers help in classrooms; with the alumni database; with hospitality; mentoring and providing 6th Form careers advice. If you have a skill you'd like to share, we'd like to hear about it.

Donations in kind: some donors prefer to buy specific gifts for the school. We are enormously grateful for all gifts of this kind but if you’re not sure what to buy Charters Friends create a Wishing Tree each Christmas with gift tags of ideas for you to take away and use.
