Welcome
Thank you for coming to our website. We hope that you like what you see about the Sixth Form at Charters School.
Charters School has a history of success at Sixth Form level, of which we are justly proud. There are over 400 students in the Sixth Form, housed in a purpose built block, with their own Common Room, classrooms and silent study area
Our success is based on a belief that we should support all our students, whatever their ability, to achieve their potential. We therefore run a wide range of courses that are mainly A Level, but also include Level 2 BTEC Diploma qualifications, NVQs in Football and Tennis as well as Level 3 BTECs and Applied A Levels. There is something for everyone. We pride ourselves on being able to coach successfully for Oxbridge and send many students to the top universities while steering other students to success in Higher Education mainly through Honours Degree Courses, but also through Foundation Degrees and HNDs.
We believe that entering the Sixth Form is an important step on the road to adulthood, and in acquiring the skills and qualities that will help students to be successful. We give students freedom to make many of their own choices while we guard against them not reaching their potential by regularly monitoring their work and acting on this information. Each student’s tutor is at the heart of this on-going process.
The Sixth Form has excellent accommodation, including six teaching rooms new in 2010, and a silent study area new in 2009. The students have their own Common Room and catering. Some lessons, such as the Sciences and Technology subjects are taught in the specialist rooms in the main school.
Our on-line prospectus can be viewed via the link above the section menu where you can find out about each of the subjects that we offer and the grades that students need to achieve at GCSE.
