Parental Focus Groups

Charters School Parental Focus Groups are groups of 10-15 parents from Year Groups 7 - 12, who have registered their interest to participate.  They act as a sounding board for new initiatives and provide feedback and information on school life from the perspective of the students and their families. These groups are not decision making but form an integral part of the schools consultation process.

In order to take part in the focus group you must be a parent or carer of a child in Year 7 – 12.  The commitment will be a two to three meetings per year with each meeting lasting for a maximum of two hours.  Parents/carers will each only be allowed to be a member of one focus group per academic year.  Where a group is oversubscribed parents/carers will be placed into a ballot for places.  If there are spaces in other groups these will be offered as an alternative.

General themes for our focus groups and their chairperson(s) can be seen below.  For the academic year 2023 - 2024 only the Personal Development group will run:

  • Personal Development* (Summer term only) - Mrs C Henly (only group for 2023-24)

  • Quality of Education – Mr P Stephenson, Mr C Cook and Miss C Torlop (will not run this academic year)
  • Pastoral Care - Mr I Wright & Ms C Rowthorn (will not run this academic year)

*Personal Development is defined as, “students’ wider personal development and their opportunities to grow as active, healthy and engaged citizens.” Personal Development includes; spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development.  Personal, social, and health education (PSHE) education and Careers information, education, advice and guidance.
